Travelled through India for 3 months, when i got back i read this book in a couple of hours and now everyone in the US thinks i am an expert on Hinduism...really fun
not as academic or scholarly as I thought. Cartoons rely on stereotypic representations of India/Islam. I bought it because of the author- Vinay Lal
I have already read this book but I found it so informative that I had to have a copy of it.
The book has many cartoons, problem is that none of them are funny. Book is pseudo-scientific and hinduphobic propaganda. Also read the excellent review by Vishal Agarwal "Hating Hindus as a Fun Activity".
This book spreads unjustified hatred on Hinduism. The author must be a self hating Hindu.
Gives a very concise overview of Hinduism in a very brief read. The illustrations are also fun to see and read.
Saw this book in barnes and noble and after sitting down with it for 45 min I decided to buy it. Considering this book is no more than probably 6"x4" and full of drawings, it sure has a lot of info packed in. Maybe a little too much for an intro to Hinduism. As someone who already has some familiarity with hinduism even I found it to be informative. It's great little book to carry along with you on the subway commute. And since it's a pretty neat reference guide too, you can read it several times without getting bored. That is if you really have an interest in the subject like I do. The drawings are sometimes serious and other times humorous- It's got a comic feel to it and many of the drawings are in this type of layout.
Great book. I highly recommend this book speaking as a curious person who was born into a Hindu family. Buy it!
